Enhancing Reporting, Telemetry, and Signal Processing for Physiological Research with NOTOCORD-hem 5.2

Targeted enhancements across the entire physiological workflow, from acquisition to analysis to Excel-based reporting.

NOTOCORD-hem is a comprehensive, GLP-compliant software platform for assessing physiological functions across cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous system applications in nonclinical and life science academic research. With more than 160 advanced modules, the platform enables researchers to acquire, analyze, and interpret physiological data while instantly generating customized reports.

The NOTOCORD-hem™ 5.2 release introduces targeted enhancements across data reporting, telemetry acquisition, and signal processing

This update strengthens performance across the entire workflow, from acquisition to analysis to Excel-based reporting

Version 5.2 introduces focused functional improvements in three key areas:

  • A new advanced interpolation prototype module (ITP40a)
  • Expanded and stabilized Stellar Telemetry (STE10/30) acquisition
  • Usability and robustness improvements in the Excel Wizard

What’s New in NOTOCORD-hem™ 5.2

New Prototype Module: ITP40a – Advanced Interpolation Filter

NOTOCORD-hem™ 5.2 introduces ITP40a, a new prototype interpolation module designed to provide greater flexibility in signal resampling and processing.

ITP40a supports a range of interpolation methods, including:

  • Step
  • Linear
  • Cubic spline
  • Modified Akima
  • Hermite

The module supports both interpolation and decimation, allowing signals to be resampled at a fixed frequency.

This makes ITP40a well-suited for:

  • Homogenizing signals acquired at different sampling rates
  • Reconstructing missing samples
  • Smoothing physiological data
  • Preparing signals for FFT and downstream analysis

By expanding signal processing options, ITP40a helps researchers standardize and refine complex datasets prior to advanced analysis.

Enhancements to STE10/30 – Stellar Telemetry Acquisition

Version 5.2 expands and stabilizes telemetry functionality for STE10/30 Stellar Telemetry acquisition, strengthening both real-time and scheduled workflows.

Key enhancements include:

  • Support for Stellar Telemetry implants with 3MBaud chips
  • Clearer and more reliable acquisition and download state visibility (RF vs. USB)
  • More robust handling of data dropouts and download timing
  • Ability to:
  • Log raw data
  • Stop and restart implants
  • Download data even when implants are stopped during an active session

Together, these improvements make telemetry acquisition more predictable, easier to monitor, and more resilient, especially in long-running or complex studies.

Excel Wizard Improvements – Greater Transparency and Control

The Excel Wizard add-in, a central component of NOTOCORDhem reporting workflows, receives several refinements aimed at improving usability and error handling.

Enhancements in version 5.2 include:

  • Undo and Redo functionality in the Edit Wizard
  • Improved marker display clarity
  • More informative error reporting
  • New warnings for overly long formulas
  • Clearer handling of invalid cell states

These updates make data extraction and editing steps more transparent and robust, helping users identify and resolve issues earlier in the reporting process.

Additional Updates in Version 5.2

Beyond the primary feature enhancements, NOTOCORD-hem™ 5.2 also includes:

  • Bug corrections for the ECG51a module
  • Retirement of the WPI10a module, now moved to the Legacy tab

These adjustments help streamline the platform while maintaining access to legacy functionality where required.

Supporting Confident, Efficient Physiology Research

NOTOCORD-hem™ 5.2 continues Instem’s focus on delivering practical, workflow-driven enhancements that:

  • Improve data quality and reliability
  • Reduce friction in acquisition and reporting
  • Support evolving experimental and telemetry requirements

Whether working with high-frequency physiological signals, telemetry-based studies, or complex Excel-driven reporting workflows, version 5.2 delivers meaningful improvements where they matter most.
